Your PDF is encrypted in transit via HTTPS and processed in an isolated environment. Files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers the moment your download is ready — Aservus never stores or accesses your documents.

Frequently Asked Questions About PDF Compression
How does PDF compression work?
PDF compression works by scanning the document for redundant data, recompressing embedded images using optimized algorithms, removing duplicate font subsets, and rewriting the file's internal object structure more efficiently. Our server-side engine can achieve up to 90% reduction in file size. The Extreme mode aggressively reduces image resolution, while Recommended balances visual quality with meaningful size savings suitable for screen viewing.
Will my PDF lose quality when compressed?
It depends on the compression mode you choose. High Quality mode applies minimal compression and preserves near-original image resolution — ideal for documents you intend to print or present professionally. Recommended mode is designed for screen viewing and produces files that look visually identical on most monitors. Extreme mode reduces image DPI significantly, which is acceptable for email attachments and web uploads where file size matters most.
Is it safe to compress PDFs online with Aservus?
Yes, completely. All files are transferred over SSL-encrypted HTTPS connections. Files uploaded to Aservus servers are processed in an isolated environment and are automatically and permanently deleted immediately after your compressed file is ready for download. Aservus does not store, read, share, or access your document content at any point.
Can I compress multiple PDF files at once?
Currently, Aservus compresses one PDF file per session to ensure maximum processing resources are dedicated to that specific document. After downloading your compressed file, simply click Compress Another PDF to immediately start a new compression without refreshing the page. Batch compression is planned for a future update.
What is the maximum PDF file size supported?
Aservus supports PDF files up to 100MB for compression. This covers the vast majority of use cases including large scanned documents, multi-chapter ebooks, and high-resolution image-heavy reports. If your file exceeds 100MB, consider using the Split PDF tool to divide it into smaller sections before compressing each part individually.
Does PDF compression work on password-protected files?
Aservus cannot compress password-protected or encrypted PDF files without the correct password, as the encryption prevents our engine from accessing and rewriting the file's internal structure. To compress a protected PDF, you would first need to remove the password using a PDF unlocker tool, then upload the unlocked file to the compressor. After compression, you can re-add password protection if needed.
